I hope the new year is going OK for everyone. My STK just picked up a new group of trainees so their basic has officially begun. It snowed here today for the first real time and it stuck, I told Kristi about it and she was less than amused (apparently home has had a little snow) who knew. The other day i was able to go to Camp Phoenix which other than driving on J-Bad road was pleasant. They have a Pizza Hut and yes it was very good. I am not sure if they use goat cheese but I really did not care. Things are going alright here for me and the guys, I got a new computer which helps me pass the time when we are not working. We have bizarres once a week where the locals come in and sell us their crap,,,usually that is what it is, however I am able to get the latest movies on DVD which is really nice. In a couple of weeks It will pick up quite a bit and than here comes the live ammo....agian...oh well. I will write soon, everyone take care.

Terp Village
A couple of days ago I was invited to eat with my Interpreter. J and I had kabobs, I think that it was beef but it could have easily been goat. The potatoes tasted like tomato soup but the kabobs and bread were pretty good. By the way Crappy new.....sorry Happy New Year to everyone hopefully we wont get rocketed tonight. At least after tonight I can say that I will see my family this year.

Christmas at the Alamo
Merry Christmas everyone,
Today we worked this morning and have the rest of the day off. I hope everyone has a great day. SGT Huges came here on the Alamo today so it was nice to have the old crew together once again. I was able to talk to my kids and my wife so it has been a pretty good day so far. Merry Christmas,

Groundhog Day
Days are starting to blur into one another. It is hard to believe that x-mas is on Thursday, no big deal for me because I am working, which is probably for the best. I hate not being with Kristi and Ben and not being able to call the girls whenever I want, or at all. I am sure that it is harder for them than it is for me (at least I can keep busy) I write in a journal to keep track of the days but it is more like dates and not days,,I am not exactly sure what day it is any how. I need a freaking calendar. Any how the days do seem short even though I am really freaking tired at the days end. Hopefully I will get use to it and not be so tired all the time. (pictured above is a daily view for me, it is very beautiful here)

Combat Tourist
Today we looked at some of the sights around Alamo. I took a lot of pictures. (tourist) the picture here is what the Soviets left when they got out of Afghanistan. I thought that this particular APC was appropriate, they could work on their spelling but the point is taken. I picked up some stuff at a bizarre here on the Alamo today. I sent them off to the girls, hopefully they like them. Any how I am looking forward to having a low tempo day tomorrow, bye for now.

My New Job
I started my new job today as a mentor. We are mentoring the ANA and the area covered is pretty huge. Today I looked over the training sites and I can honestly say that this country is very beautiful, huge mountain ranges enormous valleys and (unfortunately crawling with bad guys). I met the guys I will be working with and they seem to be good guys. I will be very busy in the next couple of weeks so it will be hard to post. In the next few days I will eat some local food at a village, hopefully my gut can take it.
